Two women were injured after falling from the Shepherd of the Hills mountain roller coaster

TANEY COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) – Two women were taken to a Springfield hospital Friday evening after an incident while riding in Shepherd of the Hills near Branson.

According to Jim Ferguson of the Western Taney County Fire Protection District, firefighters were called to Shepherd of the Hills for an incident involving the mountain roller coaster around 6 p.m.

Ferguson says the two women suffered moderate injuries after falling from a cart on the roller coaster.

The incident is now under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, the women were in their 50s and fell from the cart around a bend about six feet above the ground. State investigators arrived on scene around 7 p.m

Investigators returned at daylight Saturday to inspect more. Officials say the ride won’t be released until the investigation is complete.

According to the Shepherd of the Hills websitethe Copperhead Mountain Coaster is a 1,400-foot roller coaster that offers a downhill ride in a two-seat cart. The website states that it meets the highest safety and technical standards and was built by Wiegand.
