Estacada man killed in head-on crash in Clackamas County, three others injured

CLACKAMAS COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) – One man is dead and three other people were injured after a head-on crash in Clackamas County on Friday, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 5 p.m., officers responded to the 15000 block of South Springwater Road, south of the Carver area. They found a crashed 2012 Dodge Ram pickup and a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

A Portland police officer is recovering from minor injuries after a suspected drunk driver crashed into his car on Interstate 5 Wednesday, police said.

The PT Cruiser driver, identified as 22-year-old Ryan Edward Bloomster of Estacada, was killed in the crash. A 22-year-old woman who was a passenger in the PT Cruiser suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.

The Dodge was driven by a 51-year-old Happy Valley man and had a 12-year-old passenger on board. Both the Dodge driver and his passenger were also taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

After an initial investigation, officers said they believe the crash occurred when the PT Cruiser driver, Bloomster, failed to negotiate a turn.

Detectives are still working to determine if speed or impairment was a factor, deputies said.
