Pedestrian killed after being struck in Horry County

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – One person died after being struck by a vehicle in Horry County on Saturday.

Horry County Fire Rescue said Crews were called to the area of ​​Socastee Boulevard and Fairyland Drive just before 7:30 p.m

Master Trooper Gary Miller of the South Carolina Highway Patrol later added that the wreck happened when a Jeep Grand Cherokee struck a pedestrian attempting to cross Socastee Boulevard.

The driver and two other passengers in the Jeep were not injured, Miller said.

As of midnight Sunday, the Horry County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the dead pedestrian.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
