Lauren’s abusive husband was accused of raping a child.

“He had been writing them all night, midnight and after midnight. He was all happy faces, emojis, saying things like ‘I’d like to be free today with a little hottie like you’, things that didn’t ‘ It doesn’t even sound like his language.

“You would be heartbroken to read those messages. I read it and thought ‘this is disgusting’.”

Aiden was accidentally caught. The girl had left her phone in the living room. A message came in around midnight. Her mother was awake, so she checked the phone and saw the messages.

Just the beginning.

More and more girls came forward. The girls were of different ages and the allegations went back years. It wasn’t just inappropriate messages either. He also raped them; one at the couple’s home while Lauren was away.

Because of his good reputation at the sports club as chairman and coach, the girl’s parents felt completely comfortable leaving their daughter alone with him.

“When it all came out it made perfect sense, but I never saw it.

“There was a day a 14 year old girl got hurt. The way he picked her up and carried her, I thought, look how sweet he is for that injured girl, I wish he felt that affection for me, but he did never.” It occurred to me that he might abuse her.

“He became bolder and bolder over the years.”

Seven victims came forward and Aiden was charged with three counts of rape and sexual penetration of a child under 16, plus a series of other related charges. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
