Tortured with iron burns and cigarette butts

The preliminary investigation reveals that the minor girl was allegedly subjected to continuous torture by her employers, including burns from a hot iron and cigarette butts, before succumbing to her injuries at a flat in Mehta Nagar in Aminjikarai area.

According to the Hindu report, police said the girl’s body showed burn and strangulation marks. They said she was tortured and beaten up by one of the suspects on Diwali day. She then went to the bathroom and lay motionless despite the repeated calls from the family members.

The victim was brought to the city by two people a year and a half ago to do housework and worked in a rented house.

The accused couple, identified as Mohammad Nishad and Nasiya, allegedly left the girl’s body in their toilet and fled to the man’s sister’s house. Sources say his lawyer has informed police about the death.

The incident came to light when the owner of the rental house, where the victim worked, heard about the suspicious death of the housekeeper and alerted the police.

The officials then broke open the locked door of the house where they found the dead in the bathroom. The residents of the house, including Mohammed Nishad, were missing.

Police are awaiting the post-mortem report from Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital to determine the cause of the girl’s death. The victim leaves behind a widowed mother.
