A Seneca Falls man gave Waterloo police false information after the October crash

A Seneca Falls man is facing multiple charges after allegedly providing false information to police following a car crash in Waterloo last month, Waterloo police said.

Stephen R. Kennedy, 35, was arrested at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Oct. 16 and charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree.

Authorities allege that Kennedy, who was involved in a crash involving property damage, initially informed officers that he was not the driver of the vehicle. However, investigation revealed that he was actually driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, despite his driver’s license being suspended.

Kennedy was ticketed and charged for several traffic violations. He will appear in Waterloo District Court on November 6 at 5pm to answer the charges.
