Rohit Sharma is wary of Australia’s challenge in tough Test series: not an easy place to be

Rohit Sharma said India must be on their toes to beat Australia in their upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit has been going through a tough phase in his career after New Zealand defeated them 3-0 at home. On Sunday, the hosts slumped to a 25-run defeat at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium as Rohit became the first Indian captain to lose a Test series 3-0 on home soil.

IND vs NZ, 3rd Test Day 3 Updates

The 37-year-old Rohit admitted that the Test series against Pat Cummins’ Australia would not be easy by any means. But the skipper said India would take confidence from their wins in their last two Test series Down Under. He also said that India is completely focused on the Australia series and nothing further.

‘I’m not going to look further than Australia’

“It is important to focus on the next series, which is against Australia. A lot of our guys have been there before and a lot of them haven’t been there yet. So we are trying to go there a little earlier to get used to the conditions,” Rohit said at the post-match press conference.

“Australia is not an easy place to play cricket but we can take a lot of confidence from the way we played there in the last two series. In the back of our minds we have to think like this, we will think positively about what happened in the last two series we played in Australia. But I am not going to look beyond the Australian series as the series is very important to us,” Rohit added.

Due to the defeat against the Black Caps India also disappeared from the top spot in the points table in the final of the 2023-2025 World Test Championship. To qualify for the final without depending on other results, India needs to win four Tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and draw one match.

India will start their campaign in Australia with the Perth Test from November 22.
