Robbery suspect lynched in Busia

A man was beaten to death by residents of Bugula area in Budalangi, Busia province, on Sunday morning on suspicion of theft.

Area Police Chief Isaiah Mose said the 40-year-old man, previously linked to a series of theft incidents, was charged with stealing from a store along with his accomplices who escaped.

He was released from prison in Korinda this year after serving a five-year sentence, Mose said.

Among the stolen items the man was found with were packets of rice and cornmeal.

His body was taken to the Port Victoria Hospital mortuary.
