Stand-up comedian Utsav Dixit arrested for rash driving and Porsche accident in Hyderabad

Utsav Dixit, a stand-up comedian and businessman, was arrested on Sunday in connection with a road accident involving a Porsche at KBR Park in Hyderabad, the city police said.

Utsav Dixit, (33), a resident of Banjara Hills, is said to have driven his luxury car in a rash manner and rammed it in the boundary walls of KBR Park in the early hours of Friday. He then left the car and fled the scene, Telangana Today reported.

Initial investigation revealed that the crash occurred as a result of reckless driving, causing Dixit of losing control of the vehicle, Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Venkat Reddy was quoted by Mathrubhumi.

The accident was reported around 5:45 am on Friday when someone informed police.

Upon arrival, patrolling officers found a red Porsche with a damaged front end and a missing license plate. Regarding the car’s missing registration plate, police were quoted by Deccan Chronicle as saying that Dixit noticed that it had been broken during the collision. He placed the pieces in the dickey of the vehicle and left the place.

Further investigation revealed a broken plate in the car.

After the crash, a suo-moto case was registered based on the report of the patrolling officers.

Dixit was tracked down and subsequently arrested after police verified the available evidence. His driver’s license was seized. He was then subjected to alcohol and drug tests, the results of which were still pending, according to legal proceedings.

Police said Dixit allegedly left the house after a domestic issue and went to hand out sweet boxes to fellow stand-up comedians. The police have taken him to court under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

According to the Deccan Chronicle, an expert at the luxury car dealership explained that luxury car accidents are not caused by the driver alone. The driver must be aware of aerodynamics, tires, maintenance and car performance, he said.
