Amotekun arrests a man accused of rape in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has confirmed the arrest of a 32-year-old man, Oluwatoyin Sunday, who is accused of raping 25-year-old Abimbola Akindele.

Officer Adeleye Abiodun Adewale, the Head of Communications Department, Amotekun Corps Headquarters, Ekiti State, made the announcement through a press release available to our correspondent yesterday.

He explained that the arrest was carried out by Amotekun operatives of Efon Local Government Command after the suspect was identified.

According to Officer Adeleye, the victim narrated her ordeal during interrogation by the Amotekun operatives.

She described how she was washing clothes outside her rented apartment when the suspect approached her, lured her into his room and forcibly raped her.

Abimbola Akindele also revealed that Oluwatoyin Sunday had made several previous attempts to woo her at the same residence but she had rejected his advances.

The suspect, Oluwatoyin Sunday, has denied any involvement in the alleged crime.

He has now been handed over to the police in Efon Alaaye for further investigation.
