Who stood out for Penn State against Ohio State? Unfortunately it was a short list

PennLive usually selects five Penn State players who did well against Saturday’s opponent.

But it was hard to find more than four Nittany Lions who lived up to expectations in PSU’s 20-13 loss to Ohio State at Beaver Stadium?

So why force it?

Here are the Penn State players that caught my attention.

Abdul Carter. The edge rusher didn’t have his running mate, Dani Dennis-Sutton, on the other side many times. Dennis-Sutton was dealing with an injury he suffered during the Wisconsin game. Carter still finished with two sacks and Ohio State’s linemen may have gotten away with a few holds on No. 11.

Zakee Wheatley. The fourth-year safety finished with 10 tackles (nine solos), a pass breakup and Wheatley forced a fumble from Ohio State quarterback Will Howard deep in PSU territory, resulting in a touchback.

Kobe King. Ohio State rushed for 176 yards, but King, the Lions’ middle linebacker, was active. He finished with seven tackles (five solos) and a sack.

Tyler Warren. The Lions’ best offensive player was held without a catch in the first half but became a factor after halftime. Warren caught four passes for 47 yards and added three runs for 47 yards, for a long gain of 33.
