Bengaluru: After a tragic discovery that has shocked the Kannada film industry, celebrated director Guruprasad (52) was found hanging in his flat in Bengaluru on Sunday. Police suspect the acclaimed filmmaker committed suicide several days ago in what appears to be a case of financial stress or other unresolved personal issues.

The incident took place in a residential complex under Madanayakanahalli police limits on the outskirts of the city. Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural, CK Baba, said Guruprasad’s neighbors had last seen him entering the flat almost a week ago, after which he had apparently retreated and not gone out.

His body has been sent for post-mortem as police try to piece together more details behind the heartbreaking tragedy.
