Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday emphasized that the most important struggle in the country today is to protect and preserve the Constitution.

He said the country’s constitution was not written with hatred but with humility and love.

“The most important struggle taking place in the country today is the struggle for the constitution of our country. The protection we get, the greatness of our country, all came from the Constitution,” the Lok Sabha MP said during his speech. a corner meeting at Mananthavady here as part of the campaign for his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Priyanka is the Congress candidate for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election.

“The Constitution was not written with anger or with hatred. It was written by the people who fought the British, the people who suffered, who spent years and years and years in prison. And they wrote the Constitution with humility, with love and with affection,” he said.

“Modi ji’s government works only for his big business friends. His goal is not to give you a better life. It’s not to find new jobs for your college-educated boy. It is not intended to improve the health, education and welfare of the people,” she alleged.

Priyanka accused the Modi government of dividing the people, spreading hatred among them and depriving them of their rights, besides damaging democratic institutions.

“They attacked Rahul Gandhi Ji for fighting for the rights of the people,” the Congress leader said.

She also mentioned her work with Mother Teresa and also about Sister Rosebell who lives in Mananthavady.

Priyanka vowed to continue her struggle for the establishment of a medical college here with complete healthcare facilities.

In her speech, the Congress leader also highlighted the night ban, traffic problems on Ghat Road, man-animal conflict, tribal and agricultural issues in the hill constituency.

Referring to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Program (MGNREGA), which has benefited the tribal community immensely, she alleged that the Centre’s funding for this program and the availability of jobs through the program have reduced.

“We must raise our voices in parliament and on all platforms to push the government to increase funding.” Priyanka Gandhi resumed her campaign from Sunday by holding public and corner rallies in the Hill constituency along with her brother Rahul Gandhi.

The Congress general secretary, who is making her election debut, will be in Kerala till November 7, according to her itinerary released by the party.

After the rally at Gandhi Park in Mananthavady here, she separately attended corner meetings at Valad and Korom in Mananthavady Assembly constituency on Sunday.

Priyanka resumed her campaign for the by-election amid criticism from rival candidates that she would visit the constituency as a guest or a seasonal festival.

The Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency consists of seven Assembly segments: Mananthavady (ST), Sulthan Bathery (ST) and Kalpetta in Wayanad district, Thiruvambady in Kozhikode district and Eranad, Nilambur and Wandoor in Malappuram district.

The by-election to the Wayanad LS seat was necessitated after Rahul Gandhi, who won the Lok Sabha polls there and the Rae Bareli constituency, decided to leave Wayanad.

Voting will take place in Wayanad on November 13.
