Teddi Mellencamp announces divorce from husband Edwin Arroyave

Teddi Mellencamp says she is filing for divorce from husband Edwin Arroyave after thirteen years of marriage.

The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum announced her decision in a Instagram post, writing that her “priority is my children” right now.

“After much care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” she wrote. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken for their privacy and well-being during this new chapter.”

“Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do, but in an effort to protect my family from unnecessary speculation and rumors I felt that being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.”

TODAY.com reached out to both Mellencamp and Arroyave for comment but had not heard back at time of publication.

The daughter of singer John Mellencamp and Arroyave married in July 2011 and share daughter Slate, 12, son Cruz, 10, and daughter Dove, 4. Arroyave also has daughter Isabella, 15, from a previous relationship.

In one 2019 interview with ‘Yahoo! To live’ Mellencamp said she met Arroyave at a Hollywood nightclub about a decade ago and had been “casually dating for quite some time.”

Mellencamp said in the interview that Arroyave initially “didn’t believe in marriage.”

“He came home and he had tears in his eyes, and I had never really seen him cry before, and he just put a blank check on the nightstand and he said, ‘Hey, I just wanted to tell you that. I love you and I went to buy the ring today. I’m sorry. I just don’t believe in marriage and I don’t want you to break up with me,” Mellencamp told the outlet at the time. “It felt like the life was being sucked out of me.”

However, Arroyave said in the same interview that he ultimately proposed the next day, on Christmas Eve.

“Your mind plays tricks on you, and in the end I knew this was the girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,” Arroyave said.

Arroyave last posted on Instagram with Mellencamp on October 25, where he shares a tribute about his wife’s journey with melanoma. The reality TV star hosted the Melanoma Research Foundation gala.

“I always say that life and pain are inseparable,” he wrote. “And seeing @teddimellencamp embrace her pain and use it for the greater good again last night at the @curemelanoma gala was a beautiful reminder of what she is capable of.”

“Her story has already saved lives. And I couldn’t be more proud that she will continue to save even more. I love you, Teds,” he wrote, before adding, “(So much so that I missed the Rams game to be there) .”
