Ely farm animals ready to eat the leftover fall decor

ELY, Iowa (KCRG) – Two farms in Ely are accepting pumpkins and other leftover fall decorations to feed the animals.

RoyAn Ridge Farm accepts pumpkins, gourds and mums for the goats. However, painted/decorated pumpkins and hay bales cannot be accepted for the goats.

The farm also asks people who drop off the items not to feed the goats.

Items can be dropped off in the orange cart at the bottom of the driveway at 2021 Rogers Creek Road in Ely.

“The entire month of November,” says Jaime Allard of Royan Ridge Farm. “I know there are a lot of people who like to leave them out of the picture this Thanksgiving, so we’re going to pull out the cart. As long as it’s outside for the entire month of November, you can drop them off.’

If goats aren’t your thing or you have more pumpkins to share, the elk farm down the road also accepts pumpkins and mums for the animals to eat.

‘We’ll also take hay bales and straw bales, and your corn stalks. “So if there are corn stalks, make sure there’s no wire on them.” Emily Thuerauf of Antler Ridge Elk Ranch said. ‘You are always welcome to come by and take a look at them. We have them right by the driveway.”

Supplies can be dropped off for the elk in the yellow cart at the end of the driveway at 194 Rogers Grove Road in Ely.
