The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has sent one of its coordinators, Hasib Al Islam, a show-cause message following his comments during a recent talk show that the July Revolution would not have come about so easily if “the subway had not been set on fire , or if the police had not been attacked”.

The notice, signed by the group’s lead organizer Abdul Hannan Masoud, was issued today (November 3), Abu Baker Majumder, coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, confirmed to The Business Standard.

According to the statement, Hasib made “offensive” comments about the subway arson and the police in a recent TV talk show in July, which drew widespread criticism on social media.

He has been instructed to provide an explanation of his comments within three working days.

Hasib made the comments on private television channel DBC’s talk show “Projotone Bangladesh”, which was released on their YouTube channel on October 26.

Replying to a question, Hasib had said: “All revolutions in history have taken place outside the constitution or the law. If the subway had not been set on fire, or if the police had not been attacked, this revolution would not have happened. could be achieved so easily. The fall of fascism could not have been assured.”
