Strictly Come Dancing star Nadiya Bychokova shared a ‘breaking news’ announcement with her followers just hours before heading to the famous ballroom.

Posing in a figure-hugging sequin dress with a series of glamorous snaps, Nadiya revealed she had suffered a painful injury as she said: “BREAKING NEWS.

“I can’t believe it, but I broke my thumb while rehearsing for Strictly this week. It was a complete accident and the team took care of me, but it is huge, purple and very painful.

“I love dancing, but sometimes you have to be tough. I’m still excited to be part of the show and I can’t wait for tonight. I’ll be the one standing behind Claudia, looking fantastic, with a huge thumb.”

The dancer was quickly inundated with messages of support, with her former dance partner Dan Walker writing: “Sorry to hear about that partner. I hope it heals nice and quickly.”

One fan said: “Get well soon, we will miss your beautiful dancing!” and another agreed: “No thumbs up!! I hope it heals quickly.”

A third chimed in: “Sorry to hear this, Nadia! I hope your thumb gets better soon! Looking beautiful as always.”

A fourth said: “Broken toes, broken thumbs…you are truly unstoppable (and so incredibly beautiful).” A fifth agreed: “Ouch. I hope it heals soon…these pictures are stunning.”

The Sun reported on Nadiya’s accident earlier this week, with an insider saying: “Nadiya was training with the other pros when she fell. Her thumb basically broke and it looked incredibly painful.

Everyone crowded around her. Nadiya’s thumb was badly swollen and bruised, but she doesn’t want to let anyone down and is confident she can play the pre-recorded song.

“A doctor eventually cleared her and she will be able to film, but can be treated with kid gloves by fellow professionals.”
