The police headquarters has issued a directive for taking disciplinary action against officials ranging from sub-inspector to constable who have been absent without leave since August 5.

The directive was issued in an office order signed today (November 3) by AIG Jamirul Islam, Police Personnel Management-3.

According to the order, the respective units have been directed to take divided action against the police personnel and keep AIG Jamirul Islam informed about the proceedings.

A significant number of police personnel did not join duties after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government on August 5.

According to the police headquarters, a total of 187 police personnel have been absent so far.

Among them, 166 are ranked from sub-inspector to constable.
