Cody Rhodes says he was offered ’15 times more’ to return to the WWE than the previous run

Cody Rhodes left WWE in 2016 after being frustrated with the creative direction as Stardust. Rhodes became arguably the top name on the independent scene, helping to build AEW with Tony Khan, The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) and Kenny Omega.

In 2022, Cody announced he was leaving AEW, paving the way for a return to WWE.

Kenny Omega misses the days when he was just an artist, says balancing wrestling and the office is a ‘terrible business’

Before his return was official, Cody met with Vince McMahon, who flew to meet Cody at his home.

“Really old-fashioned. I scribbled the amount for the contract on a piece of paper and just slid it over, which wasn’t necessary.” Cody further remembered The blatant.

When asked how much money was offered, Cody said: “I can’t tell you exactly how much it was. I can tell you it was fifteen times more than what I made during my first run in WWE.”

Cody officially returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 as the mystery opponent for Seth Rollins.

Elsewhere during the interview, Cody commented on his “little struggle” leading up to All In. You can find his full commentary by clicking here.
