Home Minister V. Anitha on Sunday visited the family of a minor girl who was raped and murdered at Alivelumanga Puram in Vadamalapet Mandal of Tirupati district. Handing over an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh announced by the state government, she assured the grieving family of speedy justice, promising strict action against the accused and promising to support the family, including building a house for them.

The Interior Minister condemned the crime and expressed deep sorrow over the incident. “The brutal attack on this innocent child is devastating,” she said. She added that the suspect lured the victim with a chocolate before committing the crime. “The government will not rest until the suspects receive severe punishment. Steps have been taken to ensure that he is sentenced within two to three months,” she confirmed.
Speaking to the media, Anitha said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to expedite cases involving violence against women and children through fast-track courts. “The Prime Minister has indicated that no stone will be left unturned in bringing justice to this family,” she said, promising that police would respond quickly to similar incidents in the future.
The minister criticized the opposition YSRC and accused it of politicizing the incident for political gain. “It is unfortunate and disturbing that the opposition is trying to exploit this tragedy. Where were they during similar incidents in their own terms?” she asked. Citing recent cases during opposition rule, she argued that their lack of decisive action against such crimes in the past undermines their current outrage.
“We are committed to creating a safer Andhra Pradesh. The current government has implemented important reforms to strengthen law enforcement,” the Interior Minister said.

“Unlike the previous administration, which allegedly allowed substance abuse to spread and neglected supervision, the current administration is working to strengthen security. She pointed to increased CCTV coverage across the country, including in remote areas, and stepped-up anti-drug measures as part of efforts to curb crime.” “We are cracking down on illegal narcotics with an anti-narcotics department. It is a priority to ensure that young people are protected from these influences,” she said, highlighting that ganja cultivation has been significantly curtailed and a targeted campaign is underway to eliminate the crop completely. The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to women empowerment and added that the NDA government has consistently advocated for the welfare and safety of women.
