CW’s The Flash Was So Predictable It Became Annoying – Grant Gustin’s Brilliance When The Flash Was Severely Damaged By Bad Writing

Hailed as one of DC’s best projects, CW’s The flash was also disappointing to say the least. What hit the screens with the premise of captivating audiences with its exciting superhero antics, quickly became a show characterized by predictability and repetitive plot twists.

Despite the brilliance of Grant Gustin as the Scarlet Speedster, even his performance couldn’t fully mask the glaring flaws in the show’s writing that once made it a beloved show that was infuriating to watch.

How The flash Went from a complex series to a predictable series

During his run in the Pijlvers, CWs The flash received impeccable ratings, reviews and quite a few awards, making it a definitive success. A series that stood out for its complexity and intricate storytelling, but as the series progressed it quickly became disappointing.

While the themes of loss, sacrifice, and heroism were handled remarkably well, it unfortunately became more and more predictable with each new season. The villains, once full of depth and intrigue, became predictable with repetitive motivations and objectives.

While Grant Gustin was always brilliant as the Flash, but it was his character development that annoyed fans the most. As the series progressed, in almost every episode we witnessed Barry Allen initially defeated by a villain and faced with nearly insurmountable challenges, only for a sudden pep talk or Deus ex-machina moment to finally solve everything.

This shift, from an intricately layered narrative to a more rinse-and-repeat narrative, ultimately ruined the entire appeal of the series. Furthermore, Barry Allen’s powers, often adapted to the plot, made the series even less watchable than it had already become due to the poor writing.

Grant Gustin was brilliant, but his powers not so much

Grant Gustin’s portrayal of Barry Allen was undeniably at the heart of it The flash. His natural charm, emotional depth and ability to embody a complex character like Allen brought a unique energy to the show. So while Gustin made the superhero more relatable and approachable to fans, the inconsistencies with his powers as the Scarlet Speedster did little to boost his overall appeal.

The main problem that fans have is the inconsistency in Barry‘s speed throughout the series. Although he has performed extraordinary feats such as racing around the world in a matter of seconds, in other scenes he would struggle to fight an enemy moving at normal human speed. These discrepancies took away from the tension and logic of the plot, implying that his powers were relative to the plot.

Furthermore, while going against supposedly deadly enemies, Gustin’s Flash would rather engage in conversations instead of using his powers that could have given him fairly easy victories. This erratic nature of the plot made it increasingly difficult for many to stay interested, causing diehard fans to distance themselves despite Grant Gustin’s stellar performance.
