Single-vehicle accident kills Rantoul woman

URBANA – A Rantoul woman died early Sunday from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash, authorities announced.

Julie A. Wargolet, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:21 a.m. Sunday, Champaign County Coroner Stephen Thuney said.

According to the coroner, preliminary information indicates that Ms. Wargolet’s vehicle “left the road for an unknown reason before rolling and coming to rest in a plowed field” just south of 1400 east and 2700 north in rural Rantoul.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday. The death is under investigation by the coroner’s office and the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.
