Life-threatening injuries sustained by driver during rollover collision on I-29

FLAT CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – One driver was seriously injured this weekend after a rollover collision on I-29 north of Kansas City International Airport.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that on Saturday, November 2, around 7:30 p.m., emergency crews were called to the area of ​​southbound I-29 and Missouri 92 in Platte City on reports of a single-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they discovered a 39-year-old Eldon man was driving his 2023 Ford Expedition south on the highway when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and went down an embankment.

Investigators noted that the SUV struck several trees along the way. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt at the time, was seriously injured. He was taken North Kansas City Hospital for treatment.

State Troopers said the SUV was totally damaged during the crash. No further information has been released.
