Levin woman hit from behind by car, dog still missing

The Levin woman who was hit by a car while walking her dog near Levin yesterday remains in Palmerston North Hospital and will undergo surgery today.

A Levin woman who was hit from behind by a car yesterday afternoon was found with serious injuries on the side of the road, with no sign of the car that hit her or the dog she was walking.

The 54-year-old woman was walking along Heatherlea East Rd with her dog Apollo at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon, a route she has followed regularly for more than a decade.

However, she cannot remember what happened next. A family spokesperson said she had no memory of the incident, but only remembered walking with Apollo before she passed out.

Two motorists found the woman on the side of the road and alerted the emergency services around 5:20 p.m. They also used her phone to contact her husband, who arrived on the scene shortly afterwards.
