Drivers seriously injured after collision with Mack truck causes rollover collision

MOUND CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Two drivers are fighting for their lives after a Mack truck and pickup crashed and caused a rollover collision on I-29 in Mound City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that just before 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​northbound I-29 and Missouri 118 in Mound City for reports of a two-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found an 18-year-old man from Oregon, Missouri, driving his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado north on the interstate when he encountered a 2013 Mack truck parked on the eastbound verge.

State Troopers observed that the 18-year-old driver veered from the roadway and struck the Mack truck with his left rear, while the 58-year-old driver from Fairview, Oklahoma, was still inside.

Investigators indicated the impact caused the pickup to run off the east side of the highway, where it overturned and plunged down an embankment. The Mack truck remained stationary during the collision.
