Chicago Fire Department firefighter seriously injured in fall in Humboldt Park on the Northwest Side, officials say

CHICAGO (WLS) — A Chicago firefighter was seriously injured in a fall on the city’s Northwest Side on Sunday.

The firefighter was on the roof of a building in the 800 block of North Hamlin Humboldt Park when he fell to the basement, Chicago Fire Department officials said.

The injury occurred while CFD crews were responding to a fire in a three-unit building.

The injured firefighter was taken to Stroger Hospital with serious fall injuries.

Eight people living in the building have been displaced, CFD officials said. The Red Cross responded to help them.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

No further information was available.
