The teenage gunman who allegedly opened fire during a Halloween party in Orlando did not show up for his first court appearance on Friday and instead had his mother appear before the judge with tears in her eyes.

The mother of Jaylen Dwayne Edgar, 17, stood next to a public defender in the juvenile courtroom without her son Saturday morning after he allegedly killed two people and injured six others in downtown Orlando.

It is not known why the teenager did not appear in court.

His mother, crying as she stood before the judge, said only something to confirm her son’s identity.

“Can you speak into the microphone?” the judge asked the emotional mother. ‘Take some time, collect yourself.’

She said nothing further on his behalf before leaving the court.

The judge informed the court that the teenager would remain in secure custody until his next hearing.

Attorney Albert Yonfa told the newspaper that the 17-year-old suspect is expected to be charged as an adult.

“The prosecutor has the right to charge this person directly as an adult, even though he is 17 years old, because of the heinousness of the crime he is accused of,” he said.

Edgar has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and six counts of attempted first-degree murder.

A motive has not yet been revealed.

Gunfire was first reported in downtown Orlando at 1:07 a.m. Friday, sending thousands rushing for cover.

Just three minutes later, officers heard more gunshots a block away.

Video released by Orlando Police On Friday, Edgar reportedly walked through the crowd wearing a yellow shirt and backpack before starting shooting, sending costumed partygoers running for their lives.

The teen reportedly tried to flee the scene after the second shooting, but a police officer who saw him pull the trigger immediately knocked him to the ground single-handedly before three other officers charged him.

“It was the most scared I’ve ever been,” said Joey Herrera, 22, who was at the party with his girlfriend and some other friends. told The Post on Saturday.

“I was afraid I was going to be killed, and I didn’t want to die that way.”

College football star Timothy Schmidt Jr.a 19-year-old student at the University of Central Florida, was identified as one of the victims.

His heartbroken father, Timothy Schmidt Sr., told The Post on Saturday that his son, a talented footballer, was “one of a kind,” whom he had raised as a single father since he was 9.

“A month before I dropped him off for his summer session at UCF, he was the best man at my wedding and gave the best speech ever,” his father said.

“He brought everyone to tears. He was my mini-me and my best friend. We had such a special bond.”

Schmidt Jr. and another man, Tyreek Hill, 25, were ultimately pronounced dead at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Eight others, ranging in age from 19 to 39, were rushed to the hospital with varying degrees of injuries after the incident, Orlando police said.

Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith estimated there were between 50,000 and 100,000 people downtown Friday evening.

“No matter what his mentality was, he was going to shoot no matter what,” Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith said Friday.

“He walked past several officers, we followed where he went. He knew what he was going to do, what he thought his mind was going to do.
