Brother of Korean War soldier ‘very proud’ of memorial plans

Mr Gardner said his brother would be “very proud” of the plans to build a memorial.

“It’s incredible, I’m very proud that we can do something in the Forest of Dean that will represent the whole country,” he said.

Eight people are involved in delivering the project, including Anny Reid, trustee of the Royal British Legion and chair of trustees at the National Memorial Arboretum.

Ms Reid served in the Royal Air Force for 30 years and is “very aware of the casualties and deaths” and “passionate” about remembering people who fought for their country.

“I’m really proud that we’ve come this far and that we’ve been able to achieve this, because I think it’s very important not only for the Forest itself, but also for the families of the men who died in Korea. she said.
