Kiev fends off another Russian drone attack, leaving debris scattered across the city

Russia launched another consecutive extensive air campaign on Ukraine in the early morning of Monday, November 4, including an Iskander-M ballistic missile attack in the Dnipropetrovsk region and guided aerial bombardments in the Kharkov region.

The offensive included 80 Shahed attacks drones and unidentified UAVs from several directions, including Bryansk, Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.

By 8:30 am it was confirmed that 50 UAVs had been shot down in the Kiev, Sumy, Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Kirovohrad regions. An additional 27 drones were lost in various regions.

The attack on Kiev lasted about three hours, during which Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted all enemy drones, avoiding casualties or significant damage in the capital.

Early on Monday morning, November 4, drones were spotted over Vyshhorod in the direction of Bila Tserkva.

After crossing the border from the capital, they were successfully intercepted; Wreckage from Russian UAVs fell in Kiev’s Obolonskyi and Desnianskyi districts, sparking fires but causing no casualties.

Mayor of Kyiv, Vitaly Klitschko shared an update around 2:25 a.m., confirming that debris from downed Shahed drones ignited fires in Obolonskyi, where grass along the embankment was set on fire, and in Desnianskyi, in the Muromets Recreation Park.

Emergency services responded quickly to control the fires, with no significant injuries or structural damage reported.

This attack follows a previous attack on November 3, when drone wreckage fell in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, damaging property and university buildings.

In that incident, Ukrainian forces intercepted 66 of 99 drones launched, while the rest were reportedly lost or diverted.
