HM Amit Shah hits out at Congress over ‘false promises’ as Jharkhand polls loom

Home Minister Amit Shah has criticized the Congress for failing to fulfill election promises in states like Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana, citing Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent comments on reckless freebies. Shah urged the voters of Jharkhand not to fall for what he called ‘fake promises’ of the Congress. INDIA bloc ally Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) also warned voters against lofty but potentially unachievable election promises. Earlier, Kharge himself had advised Congress units against making extravagant commitments that would put pressure on budgets, a comment later used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to criticize Congress, pointing to failed promises on loan waivers and calling it a “fraud for the voters’. In response, Congress defended itself by arguing that state-governed states are exemplary in keeping their promises. The question remains: will unfulfilled promises impact the election results in Maharashtra and Jharkhand?
