Gunmen kidnap bizman in Anambra

Some assailants have abducted a middle-aged man, believed to be a businessman, from Alor community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was determined that the incident occurred late Sunday while the victim was driving home from a party.

Sources in the area said the gunmen took their victim after double crossing his vehicle opposite Ezeani Primary School in Alor community.

One of the sources who did not wish to be named due to the sensitivity of the incident said: “The incident took place yesterday (Sunday) at around 6.47pm. The man was driving his car, a Toyota Corolla with registration number: EKY-102GK, before the hoodlums tricked him in front of Ezeani Primary School.

“The suspected kidnappers shattered the windshield of his car, smashed his head with the trunk of their weapon, bundled him into the cabin of their car and took him away.

“Although we could not recognize his face because there was blood on it when the assailants forced him out of his vehicle, we suspect that he is a businessman and a member of this community.”

“The victim’s car was left with bloodstains everywhere. It looked like a commando film in which residents from the area went into hiding and watched what was happening from their hiding places.”

This incident was also confirmed by a video currently trending on social media, which shows a vehicle abandoned on the roadside that reportedly belonged to the victim and which he was driving before his captors stormed.

The spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident on Monday, saying investigations are underway.

Ikenga said: “The Command has commenced investigation into a reported abandoned but recovered vehicle in Alor community, Idemili South LG.

“Preliminary information showed that the victim had been kidnapped by unknown persons.

“In the meantime, the officers are working with people in the area to possibly rescue the victim and arrest the suspects.”
