The trial against Richard Allen continues in week 4

Defense lawyers in The murder trial of Richard Allen at Delphi continue to argue their case Monday at the Carroll County Courthouse.

Allen, 52, is accused of killing two teenagers who went missing on February 13, 2017 and were found dead the next day. He was arrested in 2022 and faces two counts of murder and two counts of kidnapping in the death of Abigail “Abby” Williams and Liberty “Libby” German.

On Saturday, jurors watched silent camcorder footage of Richard Allen during his stay at the Westville Correctional Facility. As they watched, the screen was turned away from the audience and media. His lawyers said they wanted to conceal the videos out of respect for Allen’s dignity, and Special Judge Frances Gull agreed. Jurors seemed visibly unsettled by the images.

Jurors also heard Saturday from Indiana State Police Capt. Doug Carter about the investigation into Libby and Abby’s deaths. Journalists from the Indianapolis star and the Lafayette Journal & Courier continue to hear the case as it moves through the judicial system.
