Tottenham consider shock sale of two stars with ‘certain’ signing in 2025 to face regular departure from Postecoglou

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King believes the signing of Johnny Cardoso will see one of Yves Bissouma or Pape Matar Sarr move on “without a doubt”.

Cardoso is already a de facto Spurs player, following their smart summer deals. The North London team allowed Giovani Lo Celso to return to Real Betis, but in that deal ensured they could get the priority option of their midfielder Cardoso ahead of any other side.

That means any bid made for the £21m midfielder they have the right to match.

Former Tottenham scout King believes Cardoso could be a good addition to the team, but this means the departure of one of the two current midfielders.

“Spurs need some spice in midfield,” King told Tottenham News.

“When I look at the team now, I’m still trying to figure out who the midfielder is. Everyone seems to want to move forward.

“If this player brings some quality and authority in midfield and he does well in Spain, then Spurs may have done well.

“If he is brought in, I think Bissouma or Sarr will be moved without any doubt.”

Cardoso move is seen as certain

And the chance of Cardoso being a Spurs player soon is reportedly ‘certain’, in the eyes of Betis.

The Spanish team are reportedly considering the move as early as the summer of 2025.

And if that means the end of either Sarr or Bissouma, a fairly consistent player will leave, with the former having played 698 minutes this season and his teammate having played 601 minutes so far.

Tottenham round-up: Spurs plan Arsenal transfer

The most shocking rumor from Tottenham is that this is so planning to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein. The move, described as something ‘no one saw coming’, could see him secure a free transfer, with a contract set to expire in the summer.

TEAMtalk understands Spurs are also at the front of the queue for St Patrick’s striker Mason Melia.

The in-form teenager is on the radar of several Premier League clubs, but Tottenham is likely to be at the top of the queue.

But they could also lose some of their most promising assets. Leeds have been urged to re-sign Archie Gray on loan in January after selling him to Spurs in the summer.

Meanwhile, Napoli continues its search for centre-back Radu Dragusin, who was only signed by Tottenham a year ago.

Who is Cardoso

By means of Ryan Baldi

Cardoso was born in New Jersey and has represented the US at under-23 and senior level, but for all intents and purposes he is a Brazilian footballer.

Born to Brazilian parents, the Cardosos moved back to their South American homeland when baby Joao Lucas – nicknamed ‘Johnny’ – was just a few months old.

Cardoso came through Internacional’s youth academy and made his senior debut for the club a few days before his 18th birthday.

He quickly became a regular starter for Beira-Rio, making 144 appearances and scoring seven goals for the Porto Alegre side…
