Derrick Henry: Reaching 101 rushing touchdowns is very cool, I don’t take it for granted

The Derrick Henry Express continued to roll against the Broncos on Sunday.

Henry ran for 106 yards and two touchdowns in the Ravens’ 41-10 win, making the running back the fourth player since 1990 to score in each of his team’s first nine games of a season. It also propelled him to 101 career rushing touchdowns, moving him past Barry Sanders, Marshall Faulk and Shaun Alexander into eighth place in NFL history in that category.

“God has been extremely good to me and I am grateful,” Henry said via the team’s website. “Thank you to everyone who has been part of my career(s) for helping me reach this milestone. Barry Sanders is like a running back superhero, so there’s that very cool. I don’t take it for granted.”

In addition to the touchdown milestones, Henry also finished the day with 1,052 rushing yards for the year. He is the first Ravens to surpass the 1,000-yard mark since Mark Ingram in 2019, but that didn’t mean Henry was satisfied with his effort.

“To have the day I had, I give credit to everyone who blocks,” Henry said. “I’m not happy with how I played and I have to do better in the next game. If I have any success, give the credit to them. For me, I’m not that happy with the game.”

It’s probably safe to say that Henry’s self-evaluation is much more critical than the evaluation he gets from outside sources.
