The Agatha question about Billy and Tommy that doesn’t get asked enough

Spoilers below for the final two episodes of Agatha all the timeso be warned if you haven’t streamed the conclusion yet with a Disney+ subscription.

Although only nine episodes long, Agatha all the time nevertheless ranks among the top TV shows with extremely valuable rewatches, such as the compact writing and reflective storytelling from showrunner Jac Schaeffer’s creative team. Even if I like certain elements Nicholas Scratch’s backstory confused me and I was impressed by the efforts of the Salem Sevenit will probably go down as my favorite TV experience from the TV program 2024and I won’t stop thinking about it anytime soon.

I already know I’m in good company, while many other viewers are wondering What Agatha‘s finale means for Joe Locke’s Billyand where we will see him and Kathryn Hahn‘s now ghostly witch who searches for his brother Tommy in the future. But there’s a pretty big logistical question regarding the twins’ current situation, which doesn’t seem to get as much attention as it deserves, even for a show that largely operates in magic and non-realism.

Do Billy and Tommy’s ghosts completely heal the bodies they inhabit?

Agatha all the time made it easy enough to buy into the idea that Wanda was Maximoff’s twin So It was clear that their spirit lived on after the dissolution of the Westview Hex, and it was incredibly exciting to see Billy and William’s origin story play out in episode 6. (Amplified by The surprisingly emotional return of Ralph Bohner.) It was quite emotional to see Billy’s spirit jump into William Kaplan’s post-mitzvah body, coupled with Elizabeth Olsen And Paul Bethany‘S WandaVision sound.

So the general idea of bodies rising from the dead with new souls intact is not the problem. Instead, I’m more interested in learning what kind of physical impact the ghosts have on these bodies that have suffered fatally traumatic conditions. Simply put, is Billy suffering from the same extensive health issues that William Kaplan likely would have faced had he survived the car crash? Or has Billy’s mind almost completely resolved the otherwise fatal injuries?

Seeing the resurrected Billy early on in the hospital temporarily washed away those concerns (even if… it raised other questions), but they rose again after the drowning scene in episode 8. Billy is guided by Agatha to find Tommy’s soul and guide it to the bullied teen’s body, and the audience is left with the idea that this is who Wiccan and will be his ghostly guide. what you are looking for in a future adventure. But here the same question remains…

It is not clear what the specific cause of William Kaplan’s death would have been, but it appears to have already been confirmed that Tommy’s host body died from a lack of oxygen to the brain. Hypothetically, Tommy’s mind would have to completely reverse the brain damage in order to experience life outside of a comatose state. (Not to mention other internal injuries.)

On the other hand, Marvel may be preparing audiences for yet another speedster-related tragedy – okay, Ralph Bohner’s. WV The appearance itself wasn’t tragic – in the sense that Billy and Agatha will successfully track down Tommy Maximoff, only to realize that he has been mentally disabled since the day the pool prank happened.

I don’t actually see it Kevin Feige opting out of something so dark, and I can’t imagine the MCU will dangle Tommy “Speed” Maximoff’s carrot and then pull out the rug in such a sad manner. But if that’s not the way things go, then I 100% need one of these projects to fully confirm that Billy and Tommy’s ghosts are capable of healing bodies once they enter them.

Unfortunately, it’s unclear what the next project could be that would casually address this storyline, let alone explain things in depth. Will it be one? Young Avengers film directed by Joe Locke? Or will that play a role for the expectant Vision series? Someone bring Lilia back so she can tell us the future, stat!
