The success of Silent Hill 2 Remake is palpable. You just have to read our opinion to understand the magnitude of a comeback that was achieved with flying colors. Among the many additions introduced by the Bloober team are the photos. At first you might have thought it was a coded message from Mary, but what they’re actually hiding is something much more sinister.

Here’s the real secret behind the Silent Hill 2 Remake photos

A Reddit user named u/DaleRobinson managed to translate what the studio wanted to convey to its fans with this collectible. Each photo has a small message associated with it, along with some visual clues at the location where it was taken. By taking these into account and linking them to what is being conveyed, the text between the lines is a clear message for the main character that harkens back to the original title.

“You’ve been here for two decades.” What does that mean? It means that James Sunderland, the main character, has been stuck in a spiral of remorse for twenty years, the same decades that separate the release of the two games.

It’s a nice nod to Konami and Team Silent’s original work, but it also takes on special meaning given the game’s backstory: Has James really been trapped all this time?and is the ending we see just the starting point for his new foray into Silent Hill? The answers are still up in the air, but it’s clear that all is not as it seems.
