MSP investigates double fatal crash in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Maryland State Police say an investigation is underway after a double fatal crash Sunday evening in Cambridge.

Just before 10 p.m., troopers were called to the area of ​​eastbound Route 50 near Austin Road for the crash report. Preliminary investigation shows that a Subaru was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a utility pole. The car then reportedly caught fire.

The adult male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the adult female passenger was flown to University of Maryland Shore Regional Health in Cambridge, where she was later pronounced dead. A young passenger was also reportedly flown to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore for treatment.

The crash is still under investigation.
