ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office has launched an investigation into a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred early Sunday morning at the Northwest Regional Police Department in Elizabethtown, according to a statement from the district attorney’s office.

The incident occurred around 1:43 a.m., when a man arrived at the police station on Elizabethtown Road, reportedly armed with a handgun. Details about the circumstances of the encounter remain limited and authorities have not released the identity of the person involved.

Lancaster County detectives are overseeing the investigation, with District Attorney Heather Adams expected to review the findings to determine whether the use of deadly force was justified. “This investigation is in its early stages and additional information will be released as necessary,” the prosecutor’s office said.

The shooting took place on police property, although officials did not specify what led to the confrontation or whether the man threatened officers or staff at the scene. It is not yet clear if there is body camera footage or other recordings of the incident.

The Public Prosecution Service is expected to release further details as the investigation progresses.
