A sex predator stalks his prey in horrifying video: woman narrowly escapes the clutches of a man who followed her and lured her into a car – while he is trapped

This is the chilling moment a young woman frantically bangs on a petrol station window for help before being dragged into a car by a sex predator who tried to rape her.

Ghulan Mohammed, 36, was strolling through Leicester city center when he spotted the woman stumbling onto a path after becoming separated from her friends.

CCTV footage shows Mohammed following the woman, in her twenties, into his car before stopping and getting out to talk to her.

He made the victim walk through the back streets for an hour before convincing her to get into his car in the early hours of December 18 last year.

After she got into the backseat, he drove her to a remote area where he sexually assaulted her and attempted to rape her.

Footage shows the terrified woman trying to escape by banging on a petrol station window and desperately pushing Mohammed away.

He is seen grabbing her wrists before forcing her back into the silver Volkswagen Golf.

The brave victim was eventually saved when she sent a live location notification and voice notes to her friends pleading for help.

When he stopped in a hotel parking lot, her friends ran to the car where they pulled her to safety.

When she was found she was covered in mud and bruises and Mohammed was not wearing any pants.

Mohammed fled and the victim called the police who launched an urgent man hunt.

Police discovered that the woman, who spoke little English, had tried to beg him to stop abusing her by using a translation app on her phone.

The device showed that she had repeatedly begged him to “Give me back my clothes” and “take me home.”

Detectives searched hours of CCTV to identify Mohammed and he was arrested the following day at his home in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffs.

After a five-week trial he was found guilty of one count of attempted rape, four counts of sexual touching, one of theft and four of fraud.

Last Friday he was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison at Northampton Crown Court.

The court heard that Mohammed began following the woman shortly before 9.30pm on December 17 when he saw her walking on St Nicholas Circle.

CCTV footage shows him braking suddenly after driving past the woman, before turning left onto Castle Street and parking.

As she walked past Southgates and then to the other side of Castle Street, Mohammed caught up with her and they started talking.

After chasing the woman for almost an hour, he convinced her to get into his car and drove her out of town.

The car was driven around for more than two hours and parked at numerous locations.

At 12.40am the next morning, Golf was captured on CCTV pulling into the forecourt of a petrol station in Groby Road.

Mohammed and the woman get out of the car and the victim can be seen in an angry and sad state.

About 10 minutes later they return to the car and Mohammed drives towards Leicester Forest East.

Around 1 a.m., the victim sent a voice message to a friend asking for help, along with live location information.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. the car parked in a hotel car park on Hinckley Road, where it remained with the headlights off.

The victim’s friends arrived at the hotel at 1:50 a.m. and found her in the back of the car with Mohammed.

Mohammed fled in the car and within hours used the victim’s bank card to make four transactions totaling £125.14.

Detective Inspector Sarah Le Boutillier, of Leicestershire Police, said: ‘Mohammed is a sexual predator who deliberately sought out the victim that night after seeing her alone and in a vulnerable state.

“It was thanks to her friends that she was rescued from the defendant’s car after she was able to share her location details with them.

‘I think that if this had not happened, more crimes would have been committed.

“The prompt reporting of the incident allowed us to launch an investigation very quickly and within less than 28 hours the suspect was identified and arrested.

“Despite the evidence against him being undeniable, the suspect chose not to admit to what he did and instead caused the victim further trauma by making her relive the events of the night during the trial.”
