Man says he’s done dating after woman goes ballistic when he refuses to pay for teeth whitening

A man hoped to take a beautiful woman and business owner out on a date after agreeing to pay for her teeth whitening services, but when he witnessed her unsavory ‘attitude’ he quickly changed his mind.

He certainly did not expect the alarming reaction that would follow. Despite the woman’s attempts to discredit him, she did the exact opposite and ended up tarnishing her own reputation.

The woman followed and filmed the man after he canceled his teeth whitening service with her.

Bre Powers is a Utah-based Mormon content creator and small business owner specializing in aesthetics. She recently shared a video of herself filming and criticizing DeeJ, a Christian man and US Army soldier who passes by @DeeJtheDad on TikTok.

Her account and videos have now been deleted.

It all started when DeeJ came across her dating profile, including her phone number, and he texted her.

“I thought if you join me I could pay you to whiten my teeth,” he messaged her. “And then if you’re attracted to me and we hit it off, I can ask you out.”

However, when he showed up for the appointment, he said quickly realized they wouldn’t be a great match and decided to cancel, resulting in her theatrical, multi-part TikTok series.

The woman tried to document their interaction on social media, but it failed.

Powers first posted a video of DeeJ standing outside his car and accusing him of “wasting her time” by making an appointment, showing up an hour late and then deciding to cancel at the last minute. She claimed he owed her a $100 cancellation fee, which he refused to pay because he was not informed of it earlier. She then took photos of his driver’s license and license plate to file a report against him.

DeeJ was unaffected by her attempts to expose him and remained calm. As he entered his vehicle to leave, Powers stood in the way outside his door.

“This also happens on Instagram, where I also have 100,000 followers, and in the Mormon dating groups that I should avoid,” Powers told him as he waited to drive away, unfazed by her irrational behavior.

“I hope you’re having a better day,” he told her as she continued to complain about the discomfort he was causing her. “Do you mind if I close my door?” She then walked away, but not without calling him an “ugly (expletive).”

The man shared his side of the story on TikTok after Powers tried to discredit him, claiming he was “done with dating.”

On the same day Powers posted her video, DeeJ shared his take on the awkward experience.

@deejthedad Yes I’m done dating also, @Bre powers if you don’t make it clear that I’m NOT lds I’ll sue you for defamation hahaha oh and if you’re part of the #bremafia and you want to destroy my company, it’s @Frostbite Foods ♬ original sound – DJ

Obviously, booking an appointment for a service and then canceling at the last minute, especially as a small business owner, is inconvenient and often incurs a cancellation fee. But DeeJ had no intention of canceling; it was her rude first impression that turned him away.

In his story, DeeJ explained that he came across Powers’ profile Mutuala dating app designed for Latter-day Saints (LDS), Mormons, and other fellow Christians.

Powers’ business information and phone number were on her profile, and even though she and DeeJ weren’t compatible, he said he thought she was “beautiful” and reached out anyway. As previously mentioned, he suggested he pay for a teeth whitening service and possibly take her out on a date afterwards.

She responded to him the next day, but not with “hello” or “nice to meet you.” Rather, she decided that their very first conversation would be the perfect time to inform him that she was being evicted from her home and that she owed $2,000 in rent. While commentators argued that this should have been the case an immediate red flagoffered DeeJ sympathy and support, stating that he would be willing to help her move if needed.

She then informed him that she was charging $199 for teeth whitening and asked if he wanted to come in the same day. He agreed to arrive around 5 p.m., but when he arrived he struggled to find parking, causing him to show up late for the appointment – even though he claimed he was only a minute late, and not at the supposed hour.

He ended up temporarily parking in a permit-only spot so he could walk in and let her know why he was delayed. However, she immediately had a rude attitude, so he decided he was no longer interested in taking her out or paying for the service, which gave rise to her strange TikTok videos.

It seems the woman pushed away a friendly man who was just trying to support her business and connect with her.

Of course, Powers was under no obligation to show interest in DeeJ, but many TikTok users argued that her response to his friendly efforts was unnecessary and excessive.

“I feel like cancellation fees don’t really count if they scare you away by being rude at the door,” one person wrote in the comments. “I’m sorry but this is no way to treat another human being who had no bad intentions but just wanted to quietly take you out on a date,” another user added.

The facts of what actually happened are unknown and, as usual, probably fall somewhere between the two perspectives. But DeeJ’s calm and collected composure in the face of Powers’ over-the-top anger was enough for TikTokers to side with DeeJ and support his own small business. Freezing fooda freeze-dried candy company.

Once again, Powers doubled down on her efforts to disparage his name and company, posting a follow-up video in which he described his outreach as “stalker” behavior and gave context to the rough patch she’s been going through lately.

Regardless of who is wrong, the bottom line is that delivery, tone and emotional regulation is everything. If Powers had shown a little more understanding and patience with DeeJ, she probably wouldn’t have scared away a potential customer.

Although DeeJ initially said he wasn’t really interested in getting his teeth whitened, he shared a funny follow-up to the service he received — with another esthetician, of course.
