Greenville police are warning about scammers posing as deputies on the phone

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – Greenville police are warning residents over the phone about scammers posing as Greenville County officers.

Officers report scammers are calling Greenville residents while posing as sheriff’s deputies and claiming they have active warrants out for the call’s recipient.

The scammers demand money and can text a fake warrant with the address of 4 McGee Street, threatening arrest if the caller hangs up, police said.

Officers ask residents to hang up immediately and block their number if they receive a call from these scammers.

Anyone affected or who would like to report a scam is asked to call (864) 271-5333.
