10 Best New Games of October 2024

Table of contents(Hide)(Show)

October was quite an interesting month in gaming, and many major titles were released during its 31-day run. So, which one should you have taken? Check out our list below!

#10 Red Dead redemption

There are some games that are so iconic that you can’t help but bring them to new platforms when the opportunity arises. Red Dead redemption has finally arrived on PC/Steam, which means that if you’ve never attempted John Marston’s quest, you can now do it on your computer!

Marston tries to live a quiet life with his family when he is forced to take down the former members of the gang he was part of: the Van Der Linde Gang. Ride your horse and shoot those who stand in your way.

Then get started with the Undead expansion campaign and see if your shot is good enough to take out zombies!

#9 Batman: Arkham Shadow

The fact that we’re putting any VR title on this list should tell you quite a bit. After all, VR games are supposed to be ‘the future’, but the number of people who play them is small.

But with games like Batman: Arkham Shadowyou’ll see the appeal of wanting more high-quality VR titles. Set within the four games of ‘Arkham World’, you are once again Batman as you try to uncover the truth behind the mysterious Ratcatcher!

You’ll fight through the perspective of Batman himself and see the arrival of certain key characters from the main games! Oh, we hope you have Meta 3 so you can play it!

#8 Until sunrise

We’ll have plenty of remakes and remasters on this list, and Until sunrise falls into the fate remake category.

The game is a complete visual overhaul of the original horror title, allowing you to see things in more detail while also seeing more emotion from those taking part in the gruesome events. The title places you in a group of friends who return to a winter resort a year after terrifying events have occurred.

Except now the events are happening to all of you, and you have to learn the truth about what really happened a year ago and try to save everyone. Your choices will already determine your fate.

#7 Life is strange: double exposure

Max Caulfield is back and her powers will be more important than ever before Life is strange: double exposure unfolds. The story begins with Max finding the body of her dear friend Safi, dead after a mysterious attack. Just when she feels all is lost, she unlocks a new version of her power, allowing her to enter an alternate reality where Safi lives!

Now jumping back and forth between the two versions of reality, she must find the truth about who killed Safi and why, and keep her alive in this new reality while avenging her in the other reality.

Not everything is as it seems, so dig deep to find out what really happened!

#6 Dragon Age: The Veil Guard

We’re sure many of you aren’t happy about that Dragon Age: The Veil Guard is on this list, but you can’t deny that it was one of the biggest releases in October, and there are at least some people who like it, so that’s enough to warrant putting it here.

The longest-standing Bioware title has undergone several changes over the years of its development, including the story, characters, gameplay, etc. Your mission is to assemble a team to face a threat of terrifying proportions. One that could end the world as a whole while simultaneously corrupting everything within.

So stand up, fight back and do what you have to do to stop this terror.

#5 Silent Hill 2

There were many remasters and remakes released in October, but the best of them all might be the Silent Hill 2 remake. It’s a complete visual representation and gameplay of the all-time classic PlayStation 2 title that horror fans still praise to this day. You play James, a man on the hunt for the truth about his wife. When he receives a letter from her beckoning him to Silent Hill, he immediately sets out, only to find himself in a city full of monsters!

Chief among them is the terrifying Pyramid Head. But what does this city bring out the worst in him and others? What truth lies within? You’ll have to play to find out.

#4 Sonic x Shadow generations

It’s honestly a bit ironic to have Sonic x Shadow Generations on this list, because it’s something old and new at the same time. On the one hand, the game remasters the previous ‘Generations’ that brought together the older and newer Sonic The Hedgehog to fight a familiar threat. Then there’s the brand new content with Shadow The Hedgehog that expands his origin story even further.

Most people are only interested in the Shadow content, and that’s fine with us. After all, Shadow will be in the upcoming live-action movie, and that means people will want to “see what he’s like” before heading to the theater to see him in a different kind of action.

#3 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

To be honest, we’re reluctant to talk about it Call of Duty: Black Ops6 because honestly the game isn’t much different from other games that have come before it. Sure, it’s better than last year’s entry, but that’s an incredibly low bar to clear, so that hardly counts.

Anyway, the main campaign takes place during the period of the Gulf War, where things were complicated around the world, and you had to find out the truth so that you could clear the names of your teams.

Honestly, most of you will buy the game for its multiplayer modes and zombie battles, and we can’t blame you. So, if you want it? Have it!

#2 Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

Yes, we’ll put this above the FPS title. Take it! Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero was a game that got many franchise fans excited by pretty much the word “go.” It promised to be something that fans of all ages could get involved in, and that was supported by a roster of over 180 characters, including characters from the non-canon films that not everyone has seen.

Then when you think of the “What if?” story scenarios, the robust tournament mode, the custom matches you can create and more, and you get perhaps the most robust game the series has ever produced. Oh, and it sold 3 million on launch day. That’s pretty cool too!

Considering that Atlus’ latest game could very well be 2024’s ‘Game of the Year’, it’s only fair that we talk about it Metaphor: ReFantazio in the last slot. The game puts a unique and more personal spin on the developer’s fantasy and RPG styles, and it works to great effect.

You play someone who tries to become the king of an empire. To do this, however, you can’t just fight your way to victory; you have to win people over! You build your personal crew, strengthen your ‘Archetypes’ in battle and do what you have to do to ensure that the country has a ruler it can be proud of.
