Montgomery County is participating in Operation Green Light for Veterans

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ala. (W.S.F.A) – Montgomery County is joining a nationwide campaign showing support for veterans by green-lighting buildings between November 4 and 11.

The third annual Operation Green Light for Veterans, which is led by the National Association of Provinces (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, the Montgomery County Courthouse will be bathed in local greenery.

“Montgomery County is proud to join communities nationwide in supporting our veterans through Operation Green Light,” said County Commission Chairman Doug Singleton. “By lighting our landmarks green, we show our gratitude and commitment to those who have served, and remind veterans and their families that our community is here to support them.”

Veterans often face unique challenges as they return to civilian life, including navigating available benefits, seeking help finding employment, and finding mental health resources. The province says its goal is to break down barriers and build a stronger support network for veterans.

“Honoring our veterans goes beyond words—it’s about action and visible support,” said Commission Vice President Isaiah Sankey. “By participating in Operation Green Light, we are letting Montgomery County veterans know they have our full support, and we want to connect them to the resources they need and deserve.”

It is not just a provincial building that is turning green. The province encourages residents, businesses and other organizations to participate by turning just one light green to show their support.
