Rashad Miller was arrested on a list of charges, including reckless driving, after state police caught him driving 117 miles per hour on I-91 south in Rocky Hill on Nov. 2, 2024.(Connecticut State Police)

They said they conducted speed traps on I-91 south near exit 23 around 9:20 a.m.

An officer observed the driver of a black Nissan Rogue traveling faster than the flow of traffic. Police were able to confirm the driver was going 117 miles per hour, state police said.

Emergency lights and siren were activated on the trooper’s cruiser to initiate a traffic stop.

However, state police said the driver accelerated, changed lanes unsafely and used the blood and shoulders of the highway to get around vehicles.

The driver exited the highway at Exit 23 and jumped onto West Street in Rocky Hill. He failed to stop at a red light there, troopers said.

State police later found the Rogue and were able to identify the driver as Miller.

He was taken into custody and charged with illegally operating a motor vehicle under suspension, reckless driving, disregarding an officer’s signal, failure to comply with proper lane yield rules, failure to drive in the proper lane , improper maintenance of turn signals, operating a motor vehicle without a license, obstructing an officer and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Miller had a court hearing Monday in New Britain. His bond was set at $10,000.
