Call to Freedom receives Bush Foundation Award to help survivors of sex trafficking

RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – The South Dakota Community Foundation has awarded the Bush Foundation South Dakota grant to Call to Freedom, a nonprofit organization that aims to help sex trafficking survivors and ultimately end the problem in South Dakota .

Call to Freedom’s mission is to integrate and elevate the voices of survivors. Surviving relatives are involved in designing and providing feedback about their care. They seek to provide comprehensive support services to those affected while creating prevention, education and awareness

Since its founding in 2016, Call to Freedom has helped more than 1,400 survivors of human trafficking. This also includes training thousands of service professionals, first responders and community members on how to identify and respond to human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.

The organization has helped equip thousands of youth through prevention education. This includes building South Dakota’s only licensed safe house for adult female survivors and their children, Marissa’s House.

The organization hopes the grant will increase their ability to reach more survivors and ultimately end sex trafficking in South Dakota.
