Larchmont Golf Course sees price increase

MISSOULA, Mont. — Missoula County commissioners have gotten a glimpse into the future of Larchmont Golf Courses, and it could mean a price increase.

During Monday’s meeting, commissioners were able to review where the golf course is located and where it is going.

A year ago the course transitioned to full provincial management.

The proposal for rate increases came from the national Golf Foundation.

The potentially higher prices could lead to a better product.

“We’re quite undervalued for the product we have,” said Rick Spurgeon, Larchmont’s general manager. “We have a great golf course with great conditions, and we are well below what everyone else is asking for.”

It will be decided next Tuesday whether the rates should be increased.

The meeting also addressed the challenges Larchmont faces in finding replacement trees after the devastating storm earlier this year. According to Spurgeon, 80% of the 170 trees torn from the golf course were non-essential and this could lead to healthier greens in the future.
