Man arrested after a Madison County juvenile was found safe

JACKSON, Tenn. – 12-year-old Sophi Halsey was reported missing on Sunday, November 3.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has since released a statement saying Halsey has been found safe.

Through the research efforts of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, in collaboration with the Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team (CARD), Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), the Jackson office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Jackson Police Departmentthey were able to identify the suspect.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was identified as 35-year-old Michael Holland of Columbia, South Carolina. Later in the evening of November 3, officers coordinated with South Carolina law enforcement agencies, who successfully located Holland and Halsey.

Halsey was recovered safely and Holland was taken into custody. Holland is currently being held in South Carolina pending extradition to Madison County. Holland is initially charged with particularly aggravated kidnapping, harboring a runaway and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The sheriff’s office stated that they have called the TBI, Jackson Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Team for rapid response to child abduction and South Carolina for their assistance in Halsey’s safe return.
