One killed and two seriously injured in Barnes County crash

BARNES COUNTY, ND (Valley News Live) – One person is dead and two others are seriously injured after a crash in Barnes County Monday morning.

It happened around 8 a.m. along State Highway 1 and Barnes County Road 22, about a mile east of Sanborn.

A truck driver was hauling soybeans on Highway 1 when a Dodge Avenger attempted to cross. Officials say the semi struck the Dodge on the passenger side.

The passenger in the Dodge, a 46-year-old Valley City woman, was killed. The driver, a 15-year-old girl, was taken to a Fargo hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi, a 59-year-old Sanborn man, was taken to a Valley City hospital with serious injuries.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
