A Jefferson County man accused of raping a minor is facing nearly 90 new charges

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – A Jefferson County man facing a felony charge for allegedly raping a minor in March 2023 is now facing nearly 90 new charges.

Michael Sest, 43, faces 89 new charges of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct with a minor before allegedly raping her in 2023, according to a criminal complaint. Police noted that these new charges date from 2019 to 2023, when the minor was 10-14 years old.

In 2023, the minor announced that he had been raped by Sest. Police noted in the complaint that a sexual assault investigation was conducted and DNA was found. The police tested Sest’s DNA and it turned out to be a match.

Sest was arrested in December 2023 and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. This is evident from court documents for the rape chargejury selection is scheduled for January 1 and a trial for January 23.

In further interviews, the minor revealed that Sest allegedly touched her sexually for approximately four years prior to the alleged rape. Sest is now accused of sexually touching the minor and performing sexual acts on her several times, the affidavit said.

Sest is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $100,000 bond on these new charges. He is charged with unlawful contact with a minor (44), aggravated indecent assault without consent (4) and corruption of minors (1). He is also charged with a misdemeanor count of indecent assault against a person under the age of 16 (40).

He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 15.
