Women focus on justice at hearing for gynecologist accused of assaulting patients

PROVO, Utah – A hearing has been set in the Utah Supreme Court for Provo doctor David Broadbent, who is accused of sexually assaulting his patients.

Nearly a hundred women have registered in the lawsuit against the gynecologist.

“It all comes down to needing justice, and that can’t really be done in a civil manner,” said Brooke Heath, a plaintiff in the lawsuit against both Broadbent and Intermountain Healthcare.

Wearing teal for sexual assault awareness, Heath sat in court Monday during the hearing for the case against Broadbent on a single charge of forcible sexual abuse.

“When Broadbent’s attorney tried to have us removed, I think it’s clear that they know we’re here and we’re going to get them,” she said.

The women hope the court will change the venue to Salt Lake City because they believe the case will not have a fair hearing in Utah County.

“Once the location is determined, those additional women will be added to our business, and there are many more,” Heath explains. “There are a number of women who have reported this to our attorneys, and they just don’t feel comfortable with the hearing. case at this time.”

Broadbent has denied wrongdoing but has stopped practicing during the investigation.

“In the end, justice appears to be that Dr. Broadbent is serving a prison sentence for what he did to more than 200 women,” Heath claimed.

Broadbent’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 26.
